I just spent an hour trying to change my FB profile picture. The current photo is a favorite of us; when I set out to change it, I was ready to do so. What I didn’t anticipate is that, in searching for which photo to change it to, I would be forced to look at the dozens of photos of us that I’m tagged in. So I posted this SciShow video earlier today and, well, I was surprised by some of the comments. Many viewers were of the opinion that recognizing scientists of a particular race was unnecessary and even wrong.
Basically, indicating that celebrating Black History Month is somehow racist.

Some Great News in an Otherwise Shitty Week!
I almost forgot to check my mail tonight, but I’m so glad that I did. I received my acceptance letter to ECU’s alternate entry Master in Nursing Science program! So, in May I’ll be graduating with an MA in applied medical anthropology. In August I’ll start the nursing program.
